Some animals come into our lives to change us.

Heart to Heart Links exists for people who feel deeply connected to their animal companion and want help understanding the relationship more clearly.

I spent years learning to trust what I already knew as a child

As a child, I believed everything communicated. Animals, nature, energy, emotion — it all felt natural to me. That was how I experienced the world. Until my kindergarten teacher pulled me aside to tell me I was frightening the other children with the things I shared. You have a vivid imagination, people would say. It made me question myself, and what I intuitively sensed.

We moved often growing up, and my animals were the one constant in my life. It took me decades of training in counseling, education, and trauma-informed support to begin reconnecting with the awareness I had pushed aside for so long.

Heart to Heart Links grew from that realization. My work is rooted in deep listening, emotional awareness, and helping people make sense of what they are already feeling within the relationship they share with their animal companion.

“Gayl created a space that felt grounded, caring, and incredibly clear. Nothing felt forced or exaggerated. The experience helped me look at my relationship with my animal in a completely different way, and I walked away with a deeper understanding of both of us.”

A relationship-centered approach

I do not approach sessions as behavior correction or quick-fix answers. I look at the relationship as a whole — the emotional environment, the patterns between you and your animal, and what may be surfacing from your relationship.

Often, what an animal expresses reflects far more than surface behavior alone.

Trauma-informed support

My background in counseling and trauma-informed care shapes how I hold these conversations. Many people come to sessions carrying guilt, grief, confusion, or fear around what is happening with their animal.

You deserve a space where those emotions can exist without judgment or pressure.

Clarity without convincing

I am not here to persuade you into believing anything. This work is deeply personal, and I approach it with honesty, care, and respect for your own experience.

Some people arrive fully open. Others arrive curious but uncertain. Both are welcome here.
